EPISODE 123 SHOW NOTES
Do you get nervous when you think about change? Maybe you recognize that you need some change in your life, but you wonder if it’s even possible, because you’ve already tried everything there is to try. Sound familiar? You probably feel pretty discouraged when you think about change, but I want you to understand that change is a choice, and it won’t actually happen until you start taking action.
Change doesn’t have to be scary, and it’s not ‘one and done’. It’s not usually life threatening or life ending either. We are so afraid of making the wrong choice that sometimes we don’t make a choice at all, or we choose to do nothing. But if you want change, change comes through choices. We can choose to see things differently, and that choice will create change.
I want you to just be open to the idea that change is a choice, and that by choosing change, you are already stepping into change. Sometimes, we don’t want to have the responsibility of making choices, and other times, we don’t want other people being in charge of our choices either. Allow yourself to look at your past choices and see where you would choose differently. This isn’t about blaming yourself, or shaming yourself for the choices you made in your past. It’s simply looking at a crossroads that you had, and the direction you chose to go, and giving yourself a little bit of a moment to look at the possibilities.
Yes, this can be a lot, but I really want to impress upon you HOW important this is, and how empowering it can be to be in control of your choices, and your life!
In today’s episode, I’m talking about:
- Why certain choices will keep you exactly where you are, and others will advance you to something greater
- Choosing to really believe that change is a choice, and it can be simple
- Learning that it’s just as easy for you to change as you think it is for others (your partner, family, friends, etc.)
It’s really easy to look and project this lesson that you’re getting right now onto someone else. But I really want you to consider that if it’s so easy in your mind for them to change, why haven’t you?
Ouch. Yep, that one stings a little bit. Believe me-I’ve done this too, and definitely don’t have this mastered! We tend to have everyone else’s lives figured out, but it’s not the same when it comes to ourselves. It’s time to apply this to ourselves though.
Start asking yourself “what is it that I need to see, or do differently”? Give yourself permission to take ownership of your future, from this moment on, regardless of what has gone on in the past.
Are you going to choose change and move forward, or continue to see things like you always have and stay in the same place you’ve always been? There’s no right or wrong answer here; it’s 100 percent up to you, because you get to decide. You don’t have to do all of this alone; it’s ok to ask for help, and that’s exactly what we can work on in our one-on-one coaching together.
